Five Day Course - 

An Introduction To Modern Text

Spring & Autumn

Our Five Day 'Introduction to Modern Text' course has been designed in collaboration with professional actors, directors and accredited teachers -

Over five days of rigorous training, students will be introduced to a practical toolkit of skills, techniques that professional actors rely on every day in preparation and performance.

Alongside lessons on craft, students will have the opportunity to practice their ‘toolkit’ on a specific Modern text. The rehearsal environment will provide a space to take risks, make mistakes and learn under professional guidance. 

On Day 5 we’ll open our doors to invited guests to showcase our progress!

This course is open to anyone aged 17-25, passionate about acting and committed to developing their craft!

It would be an excellent foundation for those intending to audition for drama school or those simply keen to develop their craft with professional guidance.

Ten Day Course - 

An Introduction To Shakespeare 

Summer 

Our Ten Day 'Introduction to Shakespeare' course has been designed in collaboration with professional actors, directors and accredited teachers - 

Over ten days of rigorous training, students will be introduced to Shakespeare and given a practical toolkit of skills to unlock ways of speaking verse & prose skilfully and truthfully.

As the musician performs with their instrument, so the actor performs with their body. Our words and our movements express the story we hope to tell. As such, physical and vocal craft is at the core of our approach. 

Alongside lessons on craft, students will have the opportunity to practice their ‘toolkit’ on a specific Shakespearean text. The rehearsal environment will provide a space to take risks, make mistakes and learn under professional guidance. 

On Day 10 we’ll open our doors to invited guests to showcase our progress!

This course is open to anyone aged 17-25,  passionate about discovering a unique and truly hands on approach to Shakespeare! 

It would be an excellent foundation for those intending to audition for drama school or those simply keen to develop their craft with professional guidance.

Fundamentals of Vocal Craft:

  • Freeing the breath and engaging the support system
  • The 5 variants of vocal delivery - pitch, volume, speed, pace and quality
  • The warm up

Fundamentals of Physical Craft:

  • Freeing the body
  • The Laban method/approach
  • The warm up

Fundamentals of Acting Technique:

  • The Ensemble
  • Intentions, obstacles, stakes and given circumstances
  • Achieving economy and simplicity

Interdisciplinary Approaches:

According to group preference an interdisciplinary workshop of the following can be offered, taught by a visiting tutor:

  • Puppetry
  • Clowning
  • Stage Combat
  • Screen Acting
  • Musical Theatre
  • Ensemble dance
